CIF State Bowl Preview: Helix vs. Del Oro

2011 Division II CIF State Championship Bowl
Helix Highlanders vs. Del Oro Golden Eagles
Saturday December 17th 2011 4pm PT
Home Depot Center at Carson, Ca

After decisively winning their first section title since 2001, the Highlanders will now have their sights set on the ultimate task of the season: The first State Championship Bowl in school history.

This Saturday they will visit the Home Depot Center in Carson to take on the Del Oro Golden Eagles of Loomis, California. The two-time defending Sac-Joaquin Section champions are averaging over 40 points per game, riding a 12-game winning streak, and have a rushing attack that features two backs that have rushed for over 1,000 yards this season. Sound familiar? While Helix only has one rusher with over 1,000 yards (the #2 Halfback has 907), these teams are quite similar to each other which should make for a pretty interesting match-up.

If Helix comes away with the victory, it will be the fifth straight season that ended with a San Diego Section team winning a State Bowl game.
