Chargers end the season by ending the Raiders' playoff hopes

Chargers win keeps Raiders out of playoffs

OAKLAND (01/01/12) - The Oakland Raiders came into this game needing a win and a Denver loss to Kansas City in order to clinch the AFC West and their first playoff berth since 2002. Kansas City did their part by defeating Denver 7-3, but the Raiders couldn't do enough to stop a hot Chargers offense.

Phillip Rivers completed 19 out of 26 passes for 310 yards and 3 touchdowns after throwing his only pick of the game during the opening possession. His main target was Malcom Floyd who caught 7 balls for 127 yards and the 43 yard touchdown catch that sealed the game late in the 4th quarter.

Antonio Gates was the second leading receiver with 106 yards and a 38 yard touchdown catch in the 1st quarter.

With the 38-26 victory, the Chargers end a 3-game losing skid to the Raiders and finish the season at 8-8.
