MESA COLLEGE (11/27/2013) The St. Augustine Saints (10-2) clinched their second straight appearance in the San Diego Section finals after dominating the previously unbeaten Imperial Tigers (11-1) 56-12.
The Saints led 42-0 before Imperial finally got on the board in the third quarter.
St. Augustine's Elijah Preston rushed for 233 yards and three touchdowns on just nine carries. The sophomore standout broke off touchdown runs of 28, 59, and 66 yards.
In a losing effort, Imperial senior Royce Freeman put up 168 rushing yards on 20 carries. He finishes an outstanding prep career with a total of 7,601, a San Diego Section record.
The Saints will face Mission Bay (12-1) for the Division II title on Monday, December 2nd at Qualcomm Stadium. The Buccaneers are coming off a 56-49 win over Rancho Buena Vista.
