Surge set to defend conference title at Dallas

For the third time in team history, a Dallas team will be the final obstacle standing between the San Diego Surge and a trip to the WFA National Championship. Only this time they'll be taking on a highly talented first-year franchise instead of the Diamonds, who folded after its 2013 national championship appearance.

"It's going to be a tough one," Surge head coach Mike Suggett said. "They're going to be a big physical team like Central Cal, and they have the speed and athleticism we saw from Seattle."

The Surge are 3-0 in conference championships, however, this will be the first time they play the game outside of San Diego County. Last season they defeated the Kansas City Titans 59-14 in front of a sold out crowd at Santee Community Stadium.

Many Yards and a Cloud of Dust

In their first season of existence, the Dallas Elite have lived up to their namesake so far after defeating their opponents by a combined score of 583-29. One of the main keys to their offensive prowess is a jet sweep rushing attack anchored by the explosiveness of Tiffany Hill and Brittney Satterwhite.

"It's going to be a battle," Suggett added. "We have to take away Dallas' attitude, play downhill, play real aggressive, and use our numbers to keep on attacking."

Under the protection of one of the best offensive lines in the league, the Surge have also utilized a powerful run game. Led by Alexis Snyder and Deana Guidry, the Surge ground attack has accounted for nine of their 11 postseason touchdowns. During their conference semifinal win over Seattle, the Surge offense put up a total of 405 rushing yards. Snyder carried the ball 31 times for 181 yards and three touchdowns, while Guidry contributed with 115 yards and two scores off nine carries.
