Martin's two TD passes propels first-ever win for Rebellion

ESCONDIDO, CA (04/07/2018) Great defense left both teams scoreless at halftime, but in the third quarter with the San Diego Rebellion (1-0) facing fourth-and-long, quarterback Knengi Martin found a wide-open Katie Ott, who burned her defender for an 48-yard strike to earn the first score in team history.

The home-run play set the tone for a hard-fought triumph over the visiting Capital City Rage (0-1).

While Martin and Ott also added an interception to their defensive stat sheet, rookie Kristin Smereczynski gets to claim the first pick of the franchise.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, the Rage got on the board with a 5-yard run by Yesenia-Jasmin Rodriguez. The failed two-point conversion left the game tied 6-6.

San Diego regained the lead on the following drive when Martin connected with rookie Venika Jarvis for 53 yards and her second touchdown pass of the game.

After the Rebellion defense forced a Capital City three-and-out, Ronnise Armstrong's three-yard scamper into the end zone sealed the team's first-ever victory.
