San Diego Surge unveils 2019 schedule

The San Diego Surge released its schedule for the inaugural 2019 season of the Women's National Football Conference.

The Surge is coming off a 2018 campaign where they finished 5-2 and third place in the "Best of the West Women's Football Championship" in Las Vegas.

Under the direction of Mike Suggett, who enters his seventh season as the Surge head coach, the schedule kicks off on Saturday, April 6th with the first of two scheduled match-ups against the San Diego Rebellion.

This will be the second game in team history against an opponent located in San Diego County. The first was a 49-0 win over the San Diego Sting in 2013.

After a three-week rest, the Surge returns to Sin City on April 27th for their first-ever meeting with the Las Vegas Stars, a second-year team who played last season as an independent.

The month of May begins with a flight to Seattle for what should be another highly-competitive outing with the Majestics, the only familiar opponent on the schedule. The Surge took a 3-0 lead in the all-time series when they pulled off a 16-6 victory in last season's "Best of the West" consolation game.

Both teams will meet again in San Diego on May 11th.

Following a two-week bye, the Surge will visit the Rebellion for a rematch on May 25th, then host the first-year Denver Bandits the following week in the regular-season finale.
