Prep Football: Centers who can make an impact this season


We continue our San Diego Prep Football preseason watch list by taking a look at some of the biggest and baddest offensive linemen entering the 2019 season.

Starting with the men in the middle: The Centers.

This is not a rankings list, therefore all players will be listed in alphabetical order via last name.

Bardin Bishop / Francis Parker / Senior
Can be disruptive on both sides of the ball.

Jake Cassidy / Cathedral Catholic / Senior 🏆
Also plays Rugby for the Dons.

Grant Esh / Mt. Carmel / Junior
Appears primed for a solid varsity debut.

Troy Faulkner / Mission Hills / Junior
Also competes in the shot put for Mission Hills Track & Field.

Giovanny Gutierrez / Clairemont / Senior
2018 First Team All-Central League selection.

Vincent Lovato / El Camino / Junior
Also competes in the shot put for El Camino Track & Field.

Enrique Lopez / Mar Vista / Senior
Has potential to be a dominating force on offense & defense.

Johann Paynita / Mater Dei Catholic / Sophomore
Nicknamed "The Bulldozer", and rightfully so.

Mychal Perry / Olympian / Senior
One of the more athletic centers in the San Diego Section.

Zak Rachow / Otay Ranch / Senior
Great combination of size and athleticism.

Jared Reinholdt / Monte Vista / Senior
2018 Second Team All-East County selection.

Phillip Simpson / Coronado / Senior
2018 First Team All-Central League selection.

Luke Simsiman / Torrey Pines / Junior
2018 All-Avocado League Honorable Mention.

Grant Van Nostrand / Poway / Senior
Helped lead Poway to 2018 Palomar League title in varsity debut.

Andrew Venero / Kearny / Senior
Can create holes to set up a powerful rushing attack.
