2022 NFL Draft Spotlight: Devin Lloyd

Height & Weight: 6'3" 237lbs
Position: Linebacker
Hometown: Chula Vista, California
College: Utah
High School: OTAY RANCH

At Otay Ranch, Devin Lloyd earned accolades as a receiver and safety. Before arriving at Utah, Lloyd had never played linebacker. While redshirting his freshman year, he was talked into making the move. He got his first start at the rover position in 2019 and things have looked up ever since. His draft stock skyrocketed in 2021 when Lloyd finished with career highs in tackles (111), sacks (7), and interceptions (4). His breakout performance earned him Pac-12 Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year and Consensus All-America amongst other honors.

Considered one of the best all-around linebackers in this draft class, Lloyd possesses the top-tier football instincts and awareness needed to excel at the highest level. He showed his versatility by playing numerous snaps as an edge rusher and in the box while also defending the slot in coverage. His "play to the whistle" mentality jumps off the screen, showing flashes of all-pro linebacker Fred Warner, a former Mission Hills High standout.

Lloyd's journey to the NFL Draft displays examples of patience, work ethic, commitment, and a willingness to put the team first. By taking the high risk of playing a new position, he was able to utilize his skillset and excel as a potential first-round pick.
