Destination Steel City!

2012 WFA American Conference Champions!

SANTEE (07-21-11) Out of all the teams the San Diego Surge (11-0) faced this season, the Dallas Diamonds (10-1) put up the best fight. When the 1st quarter ended, the Surge were only up 14-7. It looked like it was going to be a tug-of-war game, but after a 21-6 run in the 2nd quarter, the Surge never looked back and continued their dominate streak. The 56-29 victory earned them a 2nd consecutive appearance in the WFA National Championship.

The game will take place on Saturday, August 4th at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and will be televised by ESPN 3. It will be the 1st time a WFA championship is decided at an NFL stadium.

The only thing standing in the way of women’s football supremacy for the Surge will be the Chicago Force (11-0). They are coming off a 35-34 edging over the defending champion Boston Militia (10-1) in the National Conference title game. Revenge must’ve been sweet for Chicago after a 50-23 loss to Boston knocked them out of last season‘s playoffs.

You could bet that the Surge would’ve loved to have a shot at revenge against Boston themselves. Their only loss in team history was at the hands of the Militia in last season’s National Championship game. If there‘s any animosity left over from that day, the Surge will have to take it out on Chicago when they face off at the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

You can help the Surge cover their travel expense to Pittsburgh by visiting their GoFundMe Page.
