Enforcers claim second national title after routing LAPD, 42-0

CATHEDRAL CATHOLIC (06/18/2016) When the San Diego Enforcers won the NPSFL National Championship for the first time back in 2012, they needed a miracle touchdown pass in the final seconds of the game to pull off a 16-15 victory over the New York Fire Department.

Four years and three more title game appearances later, the Enforcers (5-0) ended a perfect season in perfect fashion, pitching a 42-0 shutout over the arch-rival LAPD Centurions (3-2).

After a 67-yard run by Jahir Waterman put the Enforcers on the LAPD one-yard line, the Centurions put up an outstanding goal line stand to force a turnover on downs.

Following a three-and-out, quarterback Sean Sivers, who got the start in place of an injured JJ Carrell, found receiver Robbie Davis wide open for a 41-yard touchdown.

Much like the previous meeting between these teams, the game started out close with North County holding on a 14-8 lead at the end of the first quarter, but the Stars pulled away with 30 unanswered points to secure a team-record sixth win.

The Stars not only ended the 2016 campaign on a three-game win streak, but also a third straight game where their opponent was held scoreless in the second half.

Fresh off a bye week after three straight road games, the North County Stars return home this Saturday to play what will most likely be the final game of its most successful season in team history.

They'll be facing off against the Phoenix Phantomz, who is looking to snap a three-game losing streak that includes a 26-12 loss to the Stars on May 28th

It was a tight first half, but North County pulled away with 12 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to secure their first-ever win over the franchise from the Grand Canyon State.

“I think it's going to be a tough fought battle,” said Stars' play-maker Knengi Martin, who leads the IWFL in tackles and tackles for loss.

“They believe they're a team that's capable of hanging with us for four quarters. So it's up to us to be prepared for what they're going to bring, and come ready to fight every single play.”
