Video: Surge cruises past LA Bobcats in IWFL debut

LOS ANGELES, CA (04/14/2018) Six different players found the end zone for the San Diego Surge (1-0) during its 72-8 rout over the Los Angeles Bobcats (0-2) last night.

The Surge began their assault on the scoreboard when quarterback Melissa Gallegos connected with Deana Guidry for a 23-yard touchdown strike, but the Bobcats responded on their first play from scrimmage with a 70-yard run for a score.

A successful two-point conversion gave Los Angeles an 8-7 lead, but it was short lived after San Diego's ensuing possession.

A four-play drive ended with rookie Briana Gorrell bulldozing defenders for her first of two touchdown runs. The nine-yard score sparked 65 unanswered points for the Surge, which included multiple rushing touchdowns by Adriana Gutierrez and Sophia Lofton.

Next week San Diego opens its home schedule against the Nevada Storm. This will be the first meeting between the teams since the Surge came away with a 56-6 victory in 2014.
