Enforcers shutout LA in season opener


John Buckley earned his first win as head coach after the San Diego Enforcers (1-0) opened the season with a 21-0 triumph over the visiting Los Angeles Grizzlies (0-1).

After missing the last two games of last season, veteran quarterback JJ Carrell returned and threw for two touchdowns. The first score came on just the second play from scrimmage, when he found Jonathan Gonzales for a 65-yard catch and run.

With 3:39 left to play in the half, Carrell hit Derrick McCain for a 12-yard strike to put the Enforcers up 14-0. Early in the fourth quarter, Steven Swaitkowski ran 9 yards for the final touchdown of the game.

Contributing to a strong defensive effort, Matt Steinbach recorded two of the team's four interceptions.

The next outing take place on March 23rd when the Enforcer host the Chicago Blaze at Cathedral Catholic High School.
