Strike Force set for Season Opener at Duke City

The San Diego Strike Force kick off their 2024 Indoor Football League (IFL) campaign on the road as they take on the Duke City Gladiators this Monday night. The Strike Force is looking to build on their franchise-record 6-win season in 2023 and make a push for their first-ever playoff appearance.

Kickoff is set for 5:05 p.m. Pacific time at the Rio Rancho Events Center in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Fans can catch the action on the IFL's official YouTube channel or on Caffeine TV. This early-season matchup could be a crucial one as the fight for playoff positioning in the Western Conference kicks off.

The Strike Force enters the new season with a revamped roster, led by veteran quarterback Nate Davis, who joined the team midway through the 2023 campaign. Davis finished the season ranked seventh in total passing yards and tied for second with 48 touchdown passes. The return of running back Travon Van (Helix) and defensive lineman Ben Moa (Kearny) provide stability and experience on both sides of the ball.

Head coach Taylor Genuser, entering his second season at the helm, has also brought in several promising new faces, including former San Diego State running back Chance Bell and defensive end Ja'Quan Artis, who was named the IFL's Rookie of the Year and MVP of the Championship game in 2022 as a member of the Northern Arizona Wranglers.

The Gladiators, who hold a 2-1 edge in the all-time series against the Strike Force, finished the 2023 season with a 5-10 record, narrowly missing out on a playoff spot.

The Strike Force's home opener is set for Monday, April 1st when they host the San Antonio Gunslingers at Pechanga Arena. Monday's game in New Mexico kicks off what promises to be an exciting 2024 campaign for the Strike Force as they look to make their mark in the IFL.
