Nate Davis Erupts for Nine Touchdowns in Home Opener, Strike Force Stuns San Antonio

The San Diego Strike Force (2-0) outlasted the San Antonio Gunslingers (0-1) 69-61 in a back-and-forth thriller that saw the teams combine for 16 total touchdowns on Monday night.

Nate Davis threw nine touchdown passes, including the go-ahead 17-yard strike to Arthur Jackson III with just 1.8 seconds remaining to give the Strike Force a 63-61 lead.

On the ensuing kickoff return, the Gunslingers pitched the ball a few times before fumbling it away at the two yard line, where Sherrod Williams scooped it into the end zone as time expired.

San Antonio quarterback Sam Castranova ran for four touchdowns himself while adding four more through the air in the losing effort. Castranova's top targets were Keyshawn Harper (4 rec, 38 yds, 2 TDs) and Kali Rashad (4 rec, 62 yds, 1 TD).

The fireworks started early, with the two teams trading scores throughout a wild first half that featured eight total touchdowns. The Gunslingers jumped out to a 7-0 lead, but San Diego responded to tie it at 13-13 early in the second quarter.

The Strike Force then grabbed its first lead at 19-13 before Castranova and Harper connected for a 22-yard score to put the Gunslingers back on top 26-19. San Diego quickly answered to take a 25-26 edge, but Castranova's fourth rushing TD of the half made it 26-25 Gunslingers at the break.

Davis finished 19/26 for 235 yards through the air, while Castranova was 14/22 for 139 yards for San Antonio. Jackson III racked up 90 receiving yards on 7 catches for the Strike Force.
