Despite a challenging regular season slate that included the first two home losses in team history, the Surge did enough to slip into the WFA Playoffs as the lowest seed in the Pacific Region.

After stunning the Los Angeles Warriors in the first round, the heavy underdogs went on to eliminate the previously undefeated Central Cal War Angels in an overtime thriller.

The Surge advanced to its fourth appearance in the American Conference Championship, but the Cinderella run ended with a loss to the eventual national champion Dallas Elite.

Unbeknownst at the time, it would be their final game in the Women's Football Alliance.

2018 Outlook

Three months after its move to the IWFL was made official, the Surge announced that 2018 will be the last season in team history, so there should be a strong sense of urgency to go out on top.

While the IWFL may be considered a lower-tier league compared to the WFA, the competition for the league's top prize will be stronger than ever.

In addition to the two-time defending IWFL champion Utah Falconz, other strong acquisitions to the league include the Seattle Majestics, and the newly formed Texas Elite Spartans, whose roster features former Dallas Elite players.

Fortunately for the Surge, they return 15 starters from last season, including five who were named to postseason All-American teams.
