Strike Force Edge Wranglers in Wild Season Opener, 42-40

OCEANSIDE, CA – In a back-and-forth offensive slugfest that came down to the final seconds, the San Diego Strike Force kicked off their 2026 Indoor Football League campaign with a nail-biting 42-40 victory over the Northern Arizona Wranglers at the Frontwave Arena on Monday night.

The game was defined by explosive plays and a barrage of touchdowns, with both offenses trading blows from the opening kickoff. San Diego quarterback Nate Davis had an efficient night, completing 18 of 25 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns. His primary target was Jalen Sample, who dominated with 10 catches for 93 yards and two scores.

While Davis managed the air attack, it was running back Edward Vander who provided the thunder on the ground and the winning margin. Vander rushed 12 times for a game-high 63 yards and punched in four rushing touchdowns, consistently finding the end zone to keep the Strike Force ahead.

Despite Vander’s heroics, the Wranglers refused to go away. Northern Arizona quarterback Ramone Atkins accounted for six total touchdowns (three passing, three rushing) in a gritty performance. Atkins connected with Marlon Cook Jr. (6 catches, 60 yards, 2 TDs) and Kobe Smith (2 catches, 45 yards, 1 TD) to keep the pressure on the San Diego defense.

Arizona Rattlers Cry Foul After Heartbreaking Playoff Loss to Strike Force

GLENDALE, AZ — The Arizona Rattlers, defending Indoor Football League (IFL) champions, suffered a gut-wrenching 49-48 loss to the San Diego Strike Force in a first-round playoff thriller last night at Desert Diamond Arena. But rather than accept defeat, head coach Kevin Guy is pointing fingers at the officials, claiming a missed call on the game’s final play cost his team a shot at advancing.
The game, a rematch of a split regular-season series between the two 10-6 teams, came down to the wire. With 38 seconds left, Rattlers quarterback Dalton Sneed connected with Isaiah Huston for a touchdown, giving Arizona a 48-42 lead. But the Strike Force responded with a lightning-fast drive, culminating in a three-yard touchdown pass from Nate Davis to Arthur Jackson III as time expired.
A flag thrown during the play was picked up after a 15-minute review, sealing San Diego’s 49-48 victory and sparking outrage from the Rattlers’ sideline. Coach Guy wasted no time filing a formal protest with the IFL, arguing that the Strike Force’s offense was not set before the snap, with multiple players in motion.
“It should’ve been a penalty for three guys in motion and a 10-second runoff,” Guy said in a heated postgame press conference. “That ends the game, and we’re moving on.” He took to X, posting a video of the play and calling the officiating a “cluster (expletive),” while lamenting, “It just seems like we always get screwed at home at the end.
He also threatened to fire the clock operator and replay director during his rant.

Strike Force Stun Rattlers in Walk-Off Thriller, Advance to Western Conference Title Game

GLENDALE, AZ — In one of the most dramatic finishes of the 2025 Indoor Football League postseason, the 3-seed San Diego Strike Force (11-6) pulled off a stunning 49-48 walk-off victory over the 2-seed Arizona Rattlers (10-7) in the Western Conference Semifinal at the Desert Diamond Arena Monday night.

The game featured nine lead changes and a back-and-forth offensive showcase, but it was quarterback Nate Davis’ final-second touchdown pass to Arthur Jackson III — followed by Ernesto Lacayo’s 7th extra point of the game — that lifted San Diego to a win over the defending IFL champions.

Strike Force rallies late to defeat Duke City in Season Opener

RIO RANCHO, N.M. — The San Diego Strike Force (1-0) opened their season with a thrilling 32-26 victory over the Duke City Gladiators (0-1) on Monday night, thanks to a touchdown and a clutch interception in the final seconds.

Trevon Van's three touchdowns in the last 7:33, including the game-winner with just 13 seconds left, led the Strike Force to victory. His decisive one-yard plunge capped a four-play, 47-yard drive, sealing an incredible fourth-quarter comeback.

The Gladiators had taken a 26-25 lead with under a minute to play, but Van's quick response dashed their hopes. Despite finishing with only 24 yards on nine carries, his three short TD runs proved crucial. Quarterback Nate Davis contributed 173 yards, a touchdown, and an interception on 17-of-33 passing.

San Diego's defense also shined, with Kishawn Walker grabbing two of the team's three interceptions, including the game-clinching pick on Duke City's final drive.

The game saw a wild fourth quarter, with the Strike Force initially taking a 19-17 lead on Chance Bell's three-yard score, only for Tamar Hart to return the ensuing PAT 98 yards for a defensive two-point conversion, tying the game.

Duke City had taken an early 7-0 lead, but San Diego responded to go up 13-7 on Van's four-yard score and Davis' seven-yard strike to Randal Grimes. The Gladiators reclaimed the lead 17-13 at halftime on Ernesto Lacayo's 44-yard field goal.

After a scoreless third quarter, both teams exploded offensively in the fourth, trading blows until Van's heroics secured the dramatic season-opening win for San Diego.

Video: Strike Force Re-Brands for 2020 season

Following a 1-13 finish to their inaugural season, the San Diego Strike Force indoor football team will enter their sophomore campaign in 2020 with a new logo, uniform set, and color scheme, which the team hopes will lead to a new winning attitude and attract more support for the organization.

In establishing a new identity, the team wanted to honor San Diego's military history, so they hired graphic designer Brian Gundell to come up with a look where the players on the field resemble military fighter pilots.

New Primary Logo

New Team Colors

Olive Green - Same shade used by the supplier of the military's flight suit.
