Charlotte Strike Down Enforcers in NPSFL Season Opener

In a rain-soaked season opener of the National Public Safety Football League (NPSFL), the Charlotte Cobras defeated the San Diego Enforcers 21-8 at Granite Hills High School in El Cajon.

The defending Division 2 Champion Charlotte Cobras (1-0) made a statement in their first Division 1 game, using a stellar defensive performance and three touchdown passes from quarterback Mark Brown to wide receiver Jabri Ridenhour to secure the victory on the road.

San Diego (0-1) struck first with a safety in the first quarter after a bad snap went through the end zone, giving the Enforcers an early 2-0 lead. However, Charlotte responded when Daryl Napper intercepted Enforcers quarterback Jay Gonzalez, setting up a 13-yard touchdown pass from Brown to Ridenhour, putting the Cobras ahead 7-2.

The first half ended with Charlotte leading 7-2, as both defenses dominated in the steady rain.
In the third quarter, after the Enforcers kicked a field goal to make it 7-5, Brown and Ridenhour connected on a spectacular 75-yard touchdown, extending Charlotte's lead to 14-5. San Diego added another field goal to cut the lead to 14-8, but couldn't find the end zone despite several trips to the red zone.

The Cobras sealed the victory with 1:50 remaining when Brown found Ridenhour for his third touchdown reception, a three-yard pass that gave Charlotte a 21-8 lead.

The Cobras will return home to face Chicago on the 29th, while the Enforcers looks to regroup and find an offensive rhythm in their next contest at San Bernardino on April 12th.

Impact Players:

Jabri Ridenhour (Charlotte): Caught three touchdown passes, including a 75-yard score
Mark Brown (Charlotte): Threw for three touchdowns with no interceptions
Donovan Hayes (Charlotte): Led a relentless defense with sideline-to-sideline play
Carlos Sanchez (San Diego): Connected on two field goals for the Enforcers' only offensive points

Enforcers leave the Big Apple victorious

JJ Carrell threw for three touchdown passes to help the San Diego Enforcers (2-0) pull off a 38-10 win over the NYCD Boldest (0-1), a team made up of members of the New York City Department of Correction.

After Carrell connected with Leland Ellsworth for the first score of the game, the Boldest answered with a field goal to make it 7-3 to end the first quarter.

San Diego recovered a fumble on the NYCD 20-yard line, but could only capitalize with a field goal of their own, extending their lead to 10-3 going into halftime.

Carrell's second touchdown pass of the day went to Ocap Guerrero to pull away 17-3, but a New York touchdown cut it to 17-10.

The Enforcers would go on to finish the game on a 21-0 run to seal the win. They return home on April 20th for a rescheduled contest against the Chicago Blaze, taking place at Cathedral Catholic High School.

Enforcers set to open 2019 campaign

Under the direction of first-year head coach John Buckley, the two-time NPSFL national champion San Diego Enforcers will host their season-opener this Saturday against the Los Angeles Grizzlies, who upset the Enforcers 17-13 in last year's season-finale.

Their shot at redemption will take place at Madison High School, with kickoff scheduled for 1:00 p.m. pacific time. This will be the be the third meeting between the teams, who are tied at 1-1 in the all-time series.

Buckley takes over for longtime leader Brian Salmon, who announced his retirement in November after a successful stint that dates back to 1999.

With big shoes to fill, Buckley will inherit a solid roster that features returning veterans on both sides of the ball. Quarterback JJ Carrell returns after missing the last few games of last season, while ball-hawking free safety Matt Steinbach will help anchor the "Darkside Defense".

Enforcers claim second national title after routing LAPD, 42-0

CATHEDRAL CATHOLIC (06/18/2016) When the San Diego Enforcers won the NPSFL National Championship for the first time back in 2012, they needed a miracle touchdown pass in the final seconds of the game to pull off a 16-15 victory over the New York Fire Department.

Four years and three more title game appearances later, the Enforcers (5-0) ended a perfect season in perfect fashion, pitching a 42-0 shutout over the arch-rival LAPD Centurions (3-2).

After a 67-yard run by Jahir Waterman put the Enforcers on the LAPD one-yard line, the Centurions put up an outstanding goal line stand to force a turnover on downs.

Following a three-and-out, quarterback Sean Sivers, who got the start in place of an injured JJ Carrell, found receiver Robbie Davis wide open for a 41-yard touchdown.

Series History

Charlotte leads the all-time series 2-1

This will be a rematch from last season's NPSFL National Championship game, which saw the Cobras roll to a 35-20 victory, handing the Enforcers their second straight national title game defeat.

Enforcers topped by Charlotte in NPSFL National Championship

CHARLOTTE, NC (06/20/2015) Mark Brown threw three touchdown passes and rushed for another as he led his Charlotte Cobras (5-0) to their first National Public Safety Football League title in team history with a 35-20 win over the San Diego Enforcers (5-1), handing them their second straight loss in the national title game.

Enforcers set for NPSFL Championship

Series History

All-Time Series tied 1-1

Breakdown

After a 24-10 triumph over the rival Los Angeles Centurions, the undefeated San Diego Enforcers clinched its second straight appearance in the NPSFL National Championship game. To earn their second national title in team history, they have to find a way to top a dominate Charlotte Cobras squad who hasn't given up a single point this season.

The Cobras have a stacked roster that features three players with NFL experience; a kicker and two defensive linemen. On offense they're led by quarterback Mark Brown, receiver Darrell Green, and a solid ground game powered by running backs Reggie Blackmon and Reese Jackson.

Having arguably the most productive season of his career, veteran quarterback JJ Carrell has thrown 16 touchdown passes and only two interceptions. Chris Buchanan and Matt Steinbach contributes to a stingy secondary that notched five interceptions during the last outing against Los Angeles. Both defenders recorded two apiece, while Damon Foreman notched the fifth pick that sealed the win.

Both teams play football for the purpose of raising money for local charities, and have players and staff members whose occupations involve risking their lives to protect the citizens of their respective communities. So no matter what the outcome is, there are no losers.

Enforcers knock off LAPD 24-10 to earn NPSFL championship bid

CATHEDRAL CATHOLIC (05/30/2015) For the third time in four seasons, the San Diego Enforcers will be competing in the NPSFL National Championship Game after defeating the Los Angeles Centurions 24-10 Saturday evening.

The Enforcers have now won six straight games over the Centurions and will end their 2015 regular season schedule at 5-0. With the loss, the Centurions finish their season at 4-2.

Looking for their second NPSFL title in team history, the Enforcers will have four weeks to prepare for the Charlotte Cobras (4-0), who will host the championship game on June 20th.

This will be the third all-time meeting between the two teams with the series tied at 1-1. The last meeting took place during the 2013 season with the Cobras claiming a 17-9 win at Balboa Stadium. The first meeting in 2010 was a defensive battle that resulted in the Enforcers escaping Charlotte with a 10-0 victory.

The undefeated San Diego Enforcers are a win away from clinching their third appearance in the NPSFL National Championship, where they would visit the Eastern Division champion Charlotte Cobras on Saturday, June 2oth.

Standing in their way are the Los Angeles Centurions, who are made up of members of the Los Angeles Police Department. The longtime nemesis of the Enforcers will not only be looking to play spoiler, but try to earn their first championship appearance since 2011.

Last season the Enforcers extended their winning streak over the Centurions to five games after a hard fought 22-16 victory in Los Angeles. The Enforcers trailed 16-7 before putting up 15 unanswered points. A 25-yard touchdown run by Jahir Waterman sealed the win.
